iCircuit 3D: A Fun and Immersive Electronics Design Experience

iCircuit 3D is an innovative program that provides users with a virtual workbench to design and test their electronics projects. Developed by Krueger Systems Inc., this educational and reference software is available for iPhone users.

With iCircuit 3D, users have access to a wide range of more than 150 physically and electronically simulated parts, as well as over 1,000 reference boards. This allows for the creation and testing of circuits, the simulation of physical designs, and the testing of Arduino code. Each part is meticulously rendered to resemble its real-life counterpart, providing users with a visually pleasing experience.

The program offers realistic interactions with the circuit components. When powered, LEDs light up, DC motors spin, and speakers produce sound. Users can follow the flow of current along wires and view pinout and color code data on the circuit components. Tapping on a part provides quick access to simulated values such as voltage and current, as well as the ability to modify part parameters.

iCircuit 3D also allows users to import their own 3D models to attach to their electronics projects or use Blocks to build enclosures or panels. Additionally, the program supports the import of custom circuit elements in Eagle Board or Fritzing element formats.

The 3D work environment in iCircuit 3D closely mimics an electronics workbench, with parts landing on the table due to gravity. Users can drag and connect parts by drawing wires between their ports. Once connected, the wires stay connected regardless of the part's position, allowing for easy experimentation and circuit building.
